So, the other day I was craving chocolate crackles like CRAZY, but didn't have any rice bubbles... So I decided to experiment with using oats instead of rice bubbles, and they turned out so good! If you used to love rice crispy treats or chocolate crackles as a kid, you gotta try these!

They are also perfect for holidays and/or gifts! They would be the perfect homemade gift, as well as a snack to enjoy on any holiday:

* = See Notes

CHOCOLATE OAT CRACKLES

Makes 6 large crackles or 8-10 small crackles

Ingredients:

2 Cup Rolled Oats

2/3 Cup Sugar*

1/4 Cup Cacao or Cocoa Powder

1/3 Cup Hulled Tahini*

1/3-1/2 Cup Almond Milk

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

1/4 tsp Baking Soda

Pinch of Salt

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 200C or 390F

2. Add the oats, sugar (or substitute - see notes), cacao powder, baking soda and salt into a large mixing bowl. With a wooden spoon or spatula, combine.

3. Add the vanilla extract, tahini and almond milk and combine until it forms a slightly solid, sticky mixture. It should result a mixture similar to uncooked granola.

4. Line a muffin tray with liners, spray oil or melted butter - and add about one to two large spoonfuls of the mixture into each compartment, using the spoon to push the mixture down.

5. Bake each tray (or one tray if they are large) for approximately 20 minutes. Be sure to cook them enough, so they. don't end up crumbling. Once done, let cool completely before taking out of the tray. They are best eaten straight out of there refrigerator.

So there they are, be sure to try them as you will definitely love these!

NOTES

* You can use a substitute for refined sugar, such as coconut or brown with probably no difference other than taste. You can substitute for 1/3 cup maple syrup BUT I did not try it, so I don't know if it will change the finished product!

* I recommend using hulled tahini as it is less bitter than unhulled.
